Description organisation:

The Faculty originated in 1989 as the Official School of Tourism of the Catalan Government (the Generalitat) in the city of Girona. In 2001-2002 the School became part of the University of Girona and, after studies in Advertising and Public Relations were included, on 4 December 2007 it became the Faculty of Tourism. The Faculty is located at no. 1 Ferrater i Mora square in the city of Girona. Courses are offered leading to a diploma in Tourism, an EHEA degree in Advertising and Public Relations, a pre-EHEA degree in Advertising and Public Relations, a master’s degree in Tourism Management and Planning and the European master’s degree in Tourism Management. Research is carried out through the Higher Institute of Tourism Studies (ISET), whose goals are to promote basic and applied research, postgraduate studies and lifelong learning. It aims to be a point of reference for tourism research in the country. The Faculty’s main aim is teaching quality. In 2008-2009 classes began in the programme leading to the new European Higher Education Area (EHEA) undergraduate degree in Advertising and Public Relations. This and the degree in medicine are the only two EHEA degrees currently offered at the UdG. The Faculty has a long tradition of maintaining relations with foreign faculties, schools and universities, sharing teaching experiences and research work in common. An example of that tradition is the large number of Socrates-Erasmus programme students who complete part of their training in any one of the twenty universities with which the UdG has signed exchange agreements. We are committed to a faculty that is open to new ideas in a high-quality university that meets the professional expectations of students and of other sectors.
