The Eugeniusz Piasecki University School of Physical Education in POZNAN is the oldest school of physical education in Poland and one of the oldest schools in Europe. The University School educates specialists in physical culture, tourism and physiotherapy. Its Department of Tourism and Recreation is the oldest one in Poland (existing since 1974).

The FACULTY OF TOURISM AND RECREATION offers one major course: Tourism and Recreation, with the following options: •3-year bachelor studies with specializations in: organization of tourist market,hotel industry, recreation, cultural tourism with tourism journalism, ecotourism, healthy diet in tourism and recreation •2-year master's degree studies with specializations in: international tourism, sustainable tourism and animation of leisure time.

Department of Tourism and Recreation conducts scientific research, also in cooperation with many centres in Poland and abroad. Willing to cooperate are: * Karolina Buczkowska, PhD, Ass.Prof.: member of ATLAS Cultural Tourism Research Group; cultural tourism, heritage tourism, creative tourism, tourist behaviours * Matylda Awedyk, PhD: global tourism space, international tourism arrivals and factors, influencing its dynamics,Polish outbound sightseeing tourism, exotic tourism,tourist development * Agata Wiza, PhD: bacpacking, sociology of travel * Malgorzata Wozniewicz-Dobrzynska, PhD: the influence of leisure activity on human being health and the result of it; the phenomena of new recreational activity form as a way to escape of stress and create the health * Joanna Kosmaczewska, PhD: explored influence of agrotourism on the local community potential, rural tourism, agritourism, sustainable tourism * Aleksandra Machnik, PhD (researcher with a biological background - botany): interest in natural tourist resources and values in tourists opinion and in tourists attitudes to the nature and its protection as well as tourists and local societies ecological awareness; ecotourism, nature based tourism and conflicts between local tourism development and nature protection * Ewa Malchrowicz-Mosko: cultural tourism, sport tourism, event tourism, ethics of tourism, tourist journalism, media and tourism
